Bruce Mackey, M.D.
Dr. Bruce Mackey is board certified in Family Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He grew up in rural southwestern Oklahoma. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Oklahoma Baptist University and his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his Family Medicine residency in Kansas City, Missouri, and then returned to Blackwell, Oklahoma, to practice family medicine.
Dr. Mackey practiced general primary care for 15 years in Blackwell and Ponca City. He then accepted a position as a faculty member at the Family Medicine program in Kansas City. Dr. Mackey returned to Oklahoma and began practicing chronic medical pain management in 2003. He became certified by the American Academy of Pain Management and has completed advanced training and is now certified in Sleep Medicine. During Dr. Mackey’s career, he has served as an OU College of Medicine Admissions Board Member, a Medical Student/Physician Assistant Student Preceptor, Kay County Medical Examiner, Hospice Medical Director, and the Blackwell Regional Hospital Chief of Staff. Dr. Mackey has participated in several medical missions to Mexico and Venezuela and served as a physician on the Baptist-Lutheran Medical Center Inpatient Palliative Care Team in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Mackey has also served on committees for the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure.
Since 2003, Dr. Mackey has limited his focus to treating patients with pain and sleep disorders. Dr. Mackey has a passion for helping those in chronic pain. Living with chronic pain is frequently life-changing. “My goal is to help patients learn to live with and manage their pain in the best way possible.” Dr. Mackey is also very passionate about helping patients with sleep problems. He interprets sleep studies and treats all types of sleep disorders.
Dr. Mackey is a devoted husband and father and enjoys fishing and golfing in his spare time. He is very involved in his church.
